Charlotte Jeong, born in 2010, is a sought after violinist from Atlanta, currently studying with Prof. Soovin Kim and Jin-Kyung Joen at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School and Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Boston, Massachusetts. 

Charlotte became passionate about the violin after hearing a performance by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra when she was 5 years old. She began her violin studies with Ms. Amy Chang at the age of six and was under the tutelage of Mr. William Pu, the former Associate Concertmaster of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for 7 years.

Charlotte was the winner of the Georgia Music Teacher Association (GMTA) in 2019, 2020, and 2021. She also won both the 2022 GMTA Instrumental Concerto Competition ranging from grades 6-12 and the 6/7 Grade String Competition, resulting in numerous performances as Conference Recitalist. She was the winner of the 2022 Augusta Symphony Concerto Competition and was selected as concertmaster of the 2023 and 2024 Georgia All-state Orchestra. Charlotte was also one of the first violinists in the Emory Youth Chamber Program coached by Emory’s VEGA quartet. She has been invited to play at Emory University (Atlanta Young Artists concert series by Emory Chamber Music Society) and Weill recital hall of Carnegie. She was also selected as the Music Teacher National Association (MTNA) Georgia State String Junior Division alternate winner in 2023. At age 10, she became one of the youngest winners of the Samuel Fordis Young Artists Competition, but her orchestra debut was cancelled due to the pandemic. However, in November of 2022, Charlotte was selected again as a winner of the Samuel Fordis Young Artists Competition and made her debut as a soloist with the Georgia Philharmonic in February 2023 under the baton of Maestra Tamara Dworetz.

Her international achievements include prizes in the Atlanta Festival Academy International Competition, Golden Classical International Competition, American Protege International Competition, the Opus Music Competition, and the first International Violin Competition of the Youth Giovani Violinisti Cina e Italia. In May 2024, she was selected to compete at the Andrea Postacchini International Violin competition in Fermo, Italy.

As an avid chamber musician, she was also accepted into the NEC Preparatory’s Chamber Music Intensive Performance Seminar, a full scholarship chamber program co-directed by cellist Laura Blustein and violinist Soovin Kim. She also plays as one of first violinists in the New England Conservatory Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. 

Most recently, she performed Dvorak Violin Concerto with Ludwig Symphony Orchestra as a featured soloist. She also performed with the Atlanta Community Symphony Orchestra as a result of winning the 48th Ruth Kern Young Artists Concerto Competition.

Charlotte attended Heifetz International Music Institute in 2022 and 2023, Atlanta Festival Academy in 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023, and Meadowmount School of Music in 2024. She has performed in masterclasses and studied with Wei He, David Coucheron, Simon James, Chloe Kiffer, Itamar Zorman, Peter Winograd, Yi-wen Jiang, Nancy Zhou, Kevin Zhou, David McCarroll, Edward Arron, Grigory Kalinovsky, Paul Kantor, and Janet Sung.

Charlotte plays on the Rome 1736 David Tecchler violin and the bow made by Eugene Sartory cir.1930-35. 

In addition to music, Charlotte loves art, reading literature, and traveling.

Violinist Charlotte Jeong (바이올리니스트 샬롯 정)

정채빈 2010년 출생, 만 15세

5세에 처음으로 바이올린을 배우기 시작하여 전 아틀란타 심포니 부악장 William Pu 선생님께 7년동안 사사했다.  2019년 만10세에 조지아필하모닉에서 주최하는 Samuel Fordis Young Artist 콩쿨에서 역사상 최연소 나이로 우승하여 브루흐 바이올린 협주곡을 연주하는 기회를 얻었으나 코로나로 인해 협연이 취소되어 녹화영상으로 대체되었고, 12세에 다시 한번 우승하여 2023년 2월에 조지아 필하모닉과 사라사테의 지고이네르바이젠으로 솔로데뷔무대를 가졌다.

조지아주 음악협회에서 매년 주최하는 콩쿨에서 2019년 1등을 시작으로 매년 다수 입상하였고 2022년에는 역시 12세 최연소의 나이로 협주곡부문 콩쿨에서 우승하여 2023년 케네소대학에 초청받아 두차례 솔로연주를 했다.

국제콩쿨 부문에서는 2020년 아틀란타 페스티벌 아카데미 주최 콩쿨에서 2등, 중국/이태리 수교기념 바이올린 콩쿨에서 200여명의 전세계 영 뮤지션들과 겨루어 3등에 입상하였다. 아메리칸 프로티지 국제콩쿨에서 1등과 심사위원 특별상을 수상해 카네기 웨일 리사이틀 홀에서 2022년 3월 데뷔연주를 가졌고, 골든 클래시컬 뮤직, 오퍼스 뮤직 콩쿨에서 모두 1등으로 입상하였다. 2024년 5월 이태리 페르모에서 열리는 안드레아 포스타치니 국제 바이올린 콩쿨에 참여하였다.

조지아필하모닉 뿐만아니라 어거스타 심포니, 루드윅 심포니, 아틀란타 커뮤니티 오케스트라 등 조지아주 지역 오케스트라에서 솔리스트로서의 능력을 인정받아 수차례 협연기회를 얻어 2024년 드보르작 협주곡을 2회 연주했고,  마에스트로 루드윅으로부터 “Sensational Korean American Violinist”라는 찬사를 받았다.

에모리대학 챔버뮤직 소사이어티에서 아틀란타 영아티스트 콘서트 시리즈의 리사이틀리스트로 초청받아 에모리대학 카를로스 박물관 에커맨 홀에서 리사이틀 무대를 가졌고, 아틀란타 한국문화원의 초청으로 국악과 양악 콜라보레이션을 위해 한국 전통악기인 장구, 가야금, 거문고, 대금과 함께 눈과 귀를 사로잡는 바이올린 연주로 청중들로부터 큰 호응을 얻었다. 또한 2023년 테네시 칼리지데일 SDA 교회의 초청으로 전쟁과 지진으로 고통받는 나라들을 위한 기금마련 음악회를 이끌어 마련된 기금과 연주비를 모두 기부하였다. 2023, 2024년 조지아주 올스테잇 오케스트라 오디션에서 이례적으로 2년연속 악장에 선발되었다.

하이페츠 뮤직캠프 (2022, 2023), 매도우마운트 뮤직캠프 (2024), 아틀란타 페스티벌 아카데미 (2019, 2021, 2022, 2023)에 매년 참가해 뮤지션쉽을 기르고 음악에 대한 견문을 넓혔으며, Wei He, David Coucheron, Simon James, Chloe Kiffer, Itamar Zolman, Peter Winograd, Yi-wen Jiang, Nancy Zhou, Kevin Zhou, David McCarroll, Edward Arron, Grigory Kalinovsky, Paul Kantor, Janet Sung 과 매스터클래스를 통해 연주하고 배워왔다.

2024년 9월부터 보스턴의 뉴잉글랜드음악원 예비학교와 월넛힐 예술고등학교에서 우수장학생으로써 Soovin Kim 교수님과 Jin Kyung Joen 교수님을 사사하고 있으며, 챔버뮤직에 대한 깊은 관심으로 바이올리니스트 Soovin Kim 과 첼리스트 Laura Blustein이 이끄는 챔버뮤직인텐시브 프로그램에 합격하여 전액장학금으로 챔버뮤직을 활발하게 공부하고 있다. 또한 뉴잉글랜드음악원 유스필하모닉 오케스트라의 제1바이올린 연주자로 활동하고 있다.

현재 1736년 로마에서 만들어진 다비드 테클러 (David Tecchler, Rome 1736) 바이올린과 프랑스의 외젠 사토리가 1930-35년경 제작한 활 (Eugene Sartory cir.1930-35)을 사용하고 있다.

음악 외의 관심분야는 미술과 고전문학이며 전세계 곳곳에 있는 미술관을 찾아다니는 것을 좋아한다.
